Property rental scheme that helps buyers who failed to obtain bank loans launched

SHAH ALAM, 18 Nov: The Selangor government will launch a rental scheme for buyers of low-cost houses that failed to obtain bank loans.

The Exco for Housing, Management and Urban Life, Iskandar Abdul Samad, said through the scheme, the state government, through the Selangor Housing and Property Sdn Bhd (PHSB), will buy the low-cost houses and rent them to buyers.

“After two years of rent, they can make a choice whether to buy the house.

“Part of the rent paid during that period will be deducted from the price of the house,” he said in a media statement.

According to him, the purchase after the rental period of two years will be done by borrowing from a bank.

“But if they are still not able to obtain a bank loan, they can continue renting until they can afford it.

“They can also rent until their rent payment can accommodate the entire price of the house,” he added.

He said that the state government has allocated RM10 million for the first phase of the programme and the launch will be officiated by the Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, on November 24.

This programme, which is named Dana Sel, is contained in the Selangor Pakatan Rakyat Manifesto for the 13th General Election.

It is under this programme to create a state government housing loan scheme and to increase the number of homes for rent to help the people.
