PKNS waiting for full report by MBSA on Uptown 24 fire

SHAH ALAM, 17 Oct: The Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) is still waiting for the full report which will be presented by the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) to the Selangor government before deciding on the date to present contributions to the victims of the Uptown 24 Shah Alam fire.

This is because MBSA will determine the final amount to registered recipients before being passed to PKNS.

The Corporate Responsibility Manager, Siti Zabedah Mat Jalini, said that they are still waiting for the full information from MBSA.

“We are still waiting for information from MBSA. Only then can we determine the date to present the contribution.

“We have to see this to avoid a clash between tenants and landlords to receive this assistance.

“Apart from that, MBSA also wants to see how many victims have registered to receive this contribution,” she told Selangor Kini.

Prior to this, the Chief Minister of Selangor, Mohamed Azmin Ali, announced that PKNS, as the landowner of the Muhibbah Complex, will provide disaster cash assistance through the CSR programme amounting to RM500 to each trader involved.

The Mayor of Shah Alam, Datuk Mohd Jaafar Mohd Atan, when contacted by Selangor Kini today informed that they will submit the work papers as soon as possible to the Selangor government.

A fire at Uptown 24, Shah Alam, resulted in 187 shop lots being destroyed and involving 136 traders.
