CM: RM1.049 billion for MES, open tenders save RM303 million

SHAH ALAM, 25 Aug: A total of RM1.049 billion has been spent by the State Government so far to support the implementation of the Merakyatkan Ekonomi Selangor (MES) agenda since it was launched in 2008.

The Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, said that he was proud of the Selangor Government’s achievement in making all 17 MES programmes a success, especially for the low-income earners, regardless of age, religion or political affiliation.

He said that the success of the MES programmes is driven by the Selangor State Government’s finances, which is encouraging until March this year, with the Consolidated Funds amounting to RM2.948 billion.

“What is more to be proud of is the strong reserves condition which is sufficient to finance the construction of the Third Klang Bridge which is specially designed with six lanes passing across the Klang River and involving a cost of RM300 million.

“With these reserves, we are able to launch the Selangorku Homes project in Ukay Indah, Sungai Sering, which provides many types of affordable housing at a cost of RM100 million,” he said at the Selangor Government Department Monthly Assembly at the Silver Jubilee Hall today.

Abdul Khalid said that the open tender system, which has been adopted since 2011, that is in line with the practice of transparency and accountability in the administration of Selangor also managed to save over RM303 million.
