Abdul Khalid: Replacement of CM should follow the State Constitution Laws

SHAH ALAM, 22 July: Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim respects PKR’s decision of nominating Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as Chief Minister, but reminded that it should comply with the State Constitution Laws.

He said that he stands by the enactment which sets specific procedures for the appointment or replacement of the Selangor Chief Minster.

“I believe the parties involved must go through the due process to achieve their goals they had set.

“Until the due process has occurred and gone through, I will continue to perform the duties as the Chief Minister with responsibility, diligence and trust as entrusted by the people of Selangor who have elected me through the proper channels,” he said in a statement.

He reminded the people of Selangor not to be easily influenced by defamatory, offensive, provocative and controversial news regarding the ongoing issue because the state had its unique procedure for the appointment of the Chief Minister in an orderly and civilised manner as enshrined in the Selangor state enactment.

“At the same time, I want to assure the people of Selangor and investors that the ongoing issue would not affect the state’s administration,” he added.
