SHAH ALAM, 23 July: Pakatan Rakyat (PR) has been reminded to solve the Selangor Chief Minister issue properly, with prudence, with the three party’s understanding that they will face the challenge to defend the existing government.
This is because the confidence of voters in Selangor may be dwindle when PR personally gives a picture that their struggle prioritises political agenda instead of preserving the interests of the people.
The Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, said that he hopes that the issue of the change of Chief Minister, as demanded by some PKR members, can be resolved in an orderly and responsible manner, thus restoring the confidence of the people regarding this issue.
“Of course, if this matter is not resolved with order and decorum, it will not only affect PR ins Selangor, but PR in the next GE14.
“So therefore, I pray and hope that this matter will be resolved in a manner that is orderly, responsible and according to the Selangor State Government Enactment.
“This is because the Selangor State Government Enactment recognises that His Royal Highness the Sultan of Selangor determines who will be in charge of the Selangor State administration, which is who will be Chief Minister,” Abdul Khalid said in an exclusive interview with Selangor Kini at the Chief Minster’s Office on Monday.
Abdul Khalid also said that the previous government has proven the improvement of support received from the people of Selangor when they successfully increased support in the 13th General Election in 2013.
Meanwhile, when commenting on the process of negotiating the acquisition of the water management concession, Syarikat Pengluar Air Sungai Selangor Sdn Bhd (SPLASH) is the only one yet to be finalised.
Abdul Khalid stressed that the lobbying for concession by any party is an action that ignores the interests of the people of Selangor.
“If that happens, it means that any party that allows someone to lobby on the decision made by the State Government is putting aside the aim of giving the people the power to receive benefits and a transparent and accountable administration.
“So, for that reason, I think that this should be avoided and give the administration the ability to find a way to determine the water concession purchase is done at an affordable and reasonable price, and profits the people,” added Abdul Khalid.
Abdul Khalid also recommended for the people to review the latest developments on the issue of the Chief Minister’s seat with responsibility and to not follow defamatory news triggered by irresponsible parties.
“The people of Selangor should accept that Selangor has an appointment procedure; an orderly procedure in the Selangor State Government Enactment.
“I believe that the State Government and His Royal Highness the Sultan of Selangor will follow the procedure with order and decorum,” he added.
