CM urges JPP to re-count votes for Kuala Selangor Division Chief Contest

PORT KLANG, 28 JUNE: Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim urges the Election Commission of PKR Election (JPP) to re-count votes for the contest of chief division position for Kuala Selangor.

He said, this is because his supporters are not satisfied with the results that saw S.Manikavasagam made the winner of the contest.

“By the request of the supporters, we will submit our objection papers and also any forms that suggest illegal ways were used in the election,” he said during a press conference at a Ramadhan aid handover at Kampung Perigi Nenas, here.

Abdul Khalid also commented on claims of sabotage by certain individuals during the election, but he said he would not just throw accusations without proof.

“We will analyse and study what happened. We will not resolve to blindly accusing someone of misconduct,” he said.

However, he does not deny that there were irregularities in the election that needs to be reviewed.

“There are weaknesses in our efforts, democracy needs to be practiced according to the laws and handled responsibly. We should not blame other factors such as the weather and others just to cover up our mistakes,” he added.

The JPP needs to be serious in tackling these issues and to ensure that the election is run in a clean democratic manner.
