CM: Selangor Will HoldReligious Ceremony for MH370 at the State Mosque Tomorrow

SHAH ALAM, 25 Mar: The Chief Minister of Selangor, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, representing the government and the people of Selangor, expresses condolence to the family members of the victims of the MH370 aircraft after it ended in the southern Indian Ocean yesterday.

He said, representing the State Government and the people of Selangor, also prays that Allah will give them strength in facing grief.

Abdul Khalid said that the State Government will organise a religious ceremony for the Muslim victims of MH370, which will be held at the Shah Alam State Mosque tomorrow night (26 March) and the public is invited to attend.

“The world and Malaysians, especially, after over two weeks of praying and hoping that the passengers and crew of MH370 would return safely, we have eventually accepted the fate. This immeasurable sorrow ends with the aircraft being reported to have ended up in the Indian Ocean.

“In sharing their grief, we hope that the public, especially the media, respects the personal space and emotion of each member of the victims’ family in facing this challenging and heartbreaking time,” he said in a statement today.

In relation to that, Abdul Khalid said that the Selangor Government is ready to help the families of victims to hold a religious ceremony for those who are Muslim or burial ceremonies according to the faith of those who are not Muslims.

“We hope that Muslims will join in the prayers which will be held tomorrow and together, pray for their souls to receive the grace of Allah SWT Al-Fatihah,” he said.

Other Pakatan Rakyat leaders also expressed their condolences through their respective Twitter accounts, among them being the Opposition Leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and the DAP Advisor, Lim Kit Siang.
