11 March Nomination Day: Attempt to Sabotage Opposition from Speaking in Parliament?

KAJANG, 23 Feb: The Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) de facto leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, expects Barisan Nasional (BN) and its allies to carry out various sabotages to ensure that he, as a Pakatan Rakyat (PR) candidate, fails in the Kajang State Legislative Assembly (DUN) by-election on 23 March.

Anwar said that among the actions to sabotage is like the Election Commission’s (EC) move to set 11 March as the nomination day, which clashes with his turn to debate the DYMM di Pertuan Agong’s speech in Parliament.

“We expect strong sabotage from outside. Even now, looking at the date, where has there been an election date so far away from the polling date, it has never happened before this.

“The act of delaying the Kajang by-election and also setting the nomination date on 11 March, it is all because they know that I will be contesting here,” said Anwar, who is also the Malaysian Parliamentary Opposition Leader.

However, Anwar said that these sabotage efforts will not successfully prevent him; instead, he will rush to Parliament as soon as the nomination process is completed to deliver his speech as the Opposition Leader in Parliament.

“Once the nomination is completed, I will rush to Parliament to attack government policies that oppress the people.

“Even at the time I would still be a candidate, I will bring up national issues in Kajang in Parliament,” said Anwar, met with thunderous applause from about 200 attendees at Taman Impian Murni last night.

Anwar also urged for the PR election machinery to not be too confident and to work hard to ensure that the sabotage carried out by BN and their allies will be defeated.

Meanwhile, at the same programme, Anwar also officiated the launch of the Saujana Impian Voting District Machinery.
