Anwar Denies Allegations of Taking Over as Selangor CM

SHAH ALAM, 27 Jan: The Opposition Leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, denied media reports claiming that he will take over as the Chief Minister of Selangor from Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.

He said that the MCA-owner newspaper, The Star, is only speculating as it has been the talk recently.

“It is only a speculation. This suggestion came up in 2008,” he said.

He said this to reporters after attending the trial of the lawsuit against blogger, Papa Gomo, at the High Court on Jalan Duta today.

He also denied meeting with Abdul Khalid to discuss about the change in positions.

Meanwhile, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, rejected allegations that he will resign as the Chief Minister of Selangor, as reported by the media; his officer said.

According to the Selangor Chief Minister’s Press Secretary, Arfa’eza Aziz, she met with Abdul Khalid an hour ago and the Chief Minister for the second term denied reports by The Star newspaper which claimed that he will be resigning on Wednesday.

“He came to work as usual this morning. He chaired a meeting with a subsidiary and in the evening he is meeting the Sultan.

“There is no such thing (about Abdul Khalid resigning),” said Arfa’eza, quoted from The Malaysian Insider.
