SHAH ALAM, JUL 17: In the current economic situation and with an increase in the cost of living, 30 young couples took the opportunity to get married in a mass wedding programme called “Kemuncak Destinasi Cinta 2016” organised by the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS).

Islamic Religious Affairs, Malay Customs & Heritage, Rural & Traditional Villages Development Exco Dato’ Ahmad Yunus Hairi said the programme is one of the many programmes that can benefit youth.

“Besides celebrating the couple, the programme, through Petaling District Religious Office, also facilitates matters relating to a lawful marriage.

“Indirectly, it also saves costs for the wedding event,” he told SelangorKini.

He was speaking after the “Kemuncak Destinasi Cinta 2016” mass wedding ceremony at Tengku Ampuan Jemaah Mosque in Bukit Jelutong.

He said the programme creates awareness in the community to be prudent in spending when organising wedding ceremonies.

“People need to change their attitude and not see a wedding as troublesome, especially for low-income young people,” he said.
