Mahfuz: Najib ‘Gives Signal’ to Investigate MH370 Pilot

KUALA LUMPUR, 18 Mar: The Member of Parliament for Pokok Sena, Datuk Mahfuz Omar, described the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak, as the individual responsible for giving the ‘signal’ to the police to investigate and search the home of the MH370 pilot, Captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah.

He said that this action has resulted in investigations now shifting entirely to the pilot and the flight crew who allegedly have links to the disappearance of the aircraft.

“The error started from the Prime Minister himself, who gave the signal that the pilot is diverting attention so that the investigation is focused on him and the other crew members.

“Najib’s statement will have an adverse impact on Malaysia Airlines (MAS) and cause many to lose faith in our airline,” he said in a press conference at the Parliament lobby today.

The police raided Zaharie’s home after Najib’s announcement during the press conference, among others, saying that investigations have been diverted and is focused on the flight crew based on new leads.

At the same time, Mahfuz also challenged the government to prove whether his allegations yesterday are true or otherwise, that the Foreign Affairs Minister is negotiating with the hijackers of the aircraft.

The PAS Information Chief, also said that there is a possibility that the negotiations have started, as there has not even been a glimpse of the minister, Datum Seri Anifah Aman, at the Dewan Rakyat session in Parliament over the past few days.

“The government should clarify if my claim is right or not, that the Foreign Affairs Minister is negotiating with the hijackers of the aircraft. We want to see the extent of the truth,” he said.
