RM3.781 billion foreign investment to Selangor local authorities throughout 2015

SHAH ALAM, NOV 3: The State Government approved manufacturing projects involving foreign investment in areas of local authorities, which amounted to RM3.781 billion throughout 2015.

Investment, Small & Medium Industries, Trade and Transport Exco Dato’ Teng Chang Khim said that the investment, which involves almost all local authorities, have generated 222 projects, and at the same time, created 14,139 jobs opportunities.

“Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) recorded the highest amount invested at RM1.569 billion via 44 projects and 2,948 job opportunities; followed by Klang Municipal Council at RM698.3 million via 53 projects and 3,793 jobs opportunities; Sepang Municipal Council (RM587 million, 2 and 323), Kajang Municipal Council (RM224.1 million, 17 and 1,041); and Selayang Municipal Council (RM191.7 million, 18 and 1,119).

“Being no exception either were Petaling Jaya City Council (RM185.5 million, 15 and 847); Kajang Municipal Council (RM172.9 million, 28 and 1,628); Kuala Selangor District Council (RM60.5 million, 6 and 348); Subang Jaya Municipal Council (RM56.1 million, 24 and 917); Hulu Selangor Municipal Council (RM20.6 million, 10 and 701); and other areas (RM15.1 million, 5 and 474),” he said.

He said this in answer to a question by Lai Nyuk Lan (Sungai Pelek – DAP) at the Selangor State Assembly sitting.

He further elaborated that about 10 overseas trips were funded by the State Government to promote foreign investment into the country in the same year, with a total of RM901,242.70.

Of the total, Teng explained that seven trips were led by him, namely the Trade and Investment Mission to Singapore on March 2 – 3, 2015 at a cost of RM114,678.54; Participation in Annual Meeting 2015, Dubai (March 28 – April 2, 2015 at RM21,390); and Trade and Investment Mission to India (Chennai and Mumbai) (April 19 – 23, 2015 at RM84,098.34).

“Other missions were Bio Trade and Investment Mission to Italy (Italy and UK) and US ((Milan, San Francisco and Philadelphia) organised by Biotehcorp Malaysia (June 6 – 20, 2015 at RM128,418.81);  Investment Mission to Manila and Bangkok (August 3 – 8, 2015 at RM36,846).

“China Trade and Investment Mission (Guangzhou, Dkngguan and Shenzen) and Taiwan (Kaohsiung and Taipei) (August 9 – 16, 2015 at RM130,300.71); and Trade and Investment Mission to Singapore and Indonesia (September 1 – 4, 2015 at RM82,914.61),” he said.
