KUALA SELANGOR, NOV 16: Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) has managed to educate at least 39,000 entrepreneurs through its entrepreneurial programme since 1995.
PKNS Entrepreneur Development Unit Manager Azilah Arshad said that the allocation involved was RM230 million, used to assist entrepreneurs from various fields.
She said that they included building material manufacturers, bumiputera subcontractors, retailers and student entrepreneurs from university and primary, secondary and graduate schools.
“PKNS hopes to continue playing an active role in contributing towards the development of competitive Selangor entrepreneurs.
“We will also continue on with our existing programmes and identify areas for improvement to ensure that we attain our goals,” she said.
She was giving a speech during the 2016 SMART INPENS Entrepreneurial Programme’s Closing Ceremony at INPENS International College on November 16.
In 1995, PKNS established the Bumiputera Industrial and Commerce Community Secretariat (MPPB) to produce competitive entrepreneurs.
In 2010, MPPB was rebranded as BPU, focussing on aspects of culture, development, enhancement and networking.
From only two programmes under MPPB, BPU actively implements 14 entrepreneurial training programmes.
