Ministreal post, Najib merely luring voters

KUALA LUMPUR, 30 May: PAS likens the promise of a cabinet post to the President of Gerakan, Datuk Mah Siew Keong, if he wins the Teluk Intan parliamentary by-election, as a desperate move by Barisan Nasional (BN).

PAS Vice-President, Salahuddin Ayub, said that the promise made by the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak, is merely to lure voters.

“This is Najib’s desperate attempt to lure at the last minute to save the party which has been crippled in the country’s political arena.

“Do not be fooled by his tactics,” he said, quoted from Harakah Daily.

Salahuddin, also the Director of the PAS Teluk Intan by-election said this when asked to comment on Najib’s offer.

Najib, while speaking to reporters in Beijing yesterday (May 29) said that Siew Keong will be appointed as a cabinet minister if he wins the by-election.

Elaborating, Salahudin asked why for two terms as a Member of Parliament he was not appointed as a minister if Siew Keong is credible and important to BN.

“What we see is that this offer is not regarding Siew Keong’s credibility, but merely to garner votes and save the life of Gerakan,” he said.

Previously, Siew Keong was the Member of Parliament for Teluk Intan for two terms after winning the first time at the 1999 General Election and retaining the victory in the 2004 General Election before losing in the 2008 and 2013 General Elections.
