SHAH ALAM, 30 May: The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) desires to create a domestic waste disposal system that can be recycled.

The Mayor, Datuk Mohd Jaafar Mohd Atan, said that they are now reviewing processing techniques for domestic waste, such as food, to be made into fertiliser.

He said that the fertilizer produces can be reused to nourish and fertilise landscape plants under the care of MBSA.

“We want to separate the bones from (disposed) food to be made into materials like powder.

“Then reuse it, so that the disposal system will be more organised, and the environment will also be better,” he said recently.

However, he said that he admits that the effort requires the cooperation of the people and this will certainly take time to achieve success.

“For that, we will set up a publicity unit to educate the people that hygiene should start from the kitchen.

“But we must use a persuasive technique and teach, in stages, otherwise, people will be upset,” he said.
