EXCLUSIVE: Do not use the people for political agenda – CM

SHAH ALAM, 24 July: The Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, does not want the people of Selangor to be used as a stepping stone to Putrajaya to meet the political agenda of some quarters.

He admitted that Pakatan Rakyat should aspire to continue to grow by making Selangor the foundation for the launch to Putrajaya.

However, he said, Pakatan Rakyat should tell the people who may think that the state is being used as a tool.

“If this (foundation to Putrajaya) is being done, it would be better for Pakatan to ask for another mandate from the people of Selangor.

“We must defend our principles. We are carrying out reforms for the interests of the people, not personal interests,” he said in a special interview with Selangor Kini.

Previously, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had announced that he wanted to make Selangor as the foundation for the launch to Putrajaya when they began the Kajang Move.

However, it was hindered when the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) de facto leader could not contest for the Kajang State Legislative Assembly (DUN) seat, and was instead represented by his wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Ismail.

During the interview, Abdul Khalid was also asked about allegations related to Splash where it was said that the company had engaged individuals in PKR to receive a solution that is in favour of Syarikat Pengeluar Air Sungai Selangor Sdn Bhd (SPLASH).

“If that happened, it means that the party allowed someone to lobby against the decision made by the State Government.

“This ignores the aim of giving the people the power to benefit and have an administration that is transparent and accountable,” he said.

He also wants the matter to be avoided and leaves it to the State Government to determine that the purchase of the water concessionaire is done at a reasonable price and profits the people.
