Disaster monitoring through Smart Selangor Command Centre

SHAH ALAM, AUG 11: Disaster and crisis monitoring is expected to be enhanced through the Smart Selangor Command Centre (SSCC).

Head of Assistant Secretary, Disaster Management Unit (DMU), Ahmad Fairuz Mohd Yusof said SSCC which is equipped with the latest technology enables a more comprehensive, efficient and swift disaster monitoring in relevant areas.

He said, it includes weather, sea-level, air pollution index, flood, satellite and climate radar monitoring.

“DMU found it interesting that SSCC has a very high-speed internet access with huge screen and server, ergonomic and conducive workspace with sophisticated information technology (IT) equipment.

“They also have experts who monitor regularly, making it a highly innovative centre,” he said as quoted by Smart Selangor Newsletter August 2017 edition.

Last August 1, DMU started its basic operation in SSDU and plans to fully operate there this September 1.

Recently, DMU led by Ahmad Fairuz visited SSCC at the Smart Selangor Delivery Unit (SSDU) office and was greeted by its Deputy Director, Dr Fahmi Ngah.

Fahmi who is also Chief Executive Officer for Selangor Economic Advisor’s Office also gave a briefing on Smart Selangor’s aspiration, guidelines, SSDU office usage, Command Centre and the potential for both parties.

SSDU is a special unit mandated by the State Executive Council (MMKN) to implement Smart Selangor more efficiently.

They are responsible to coordinate on infrastructures and system improvement, enter into collaborations with relevant parties, facilitate and manage services and find solutions to issues raised by citizens.
