New image for SSIC, manage to spur investment in Selangor

SEPANG, 19 Nov: The Selangor State Investment Centre (SSIC), as the facilitator in matter related to state investment, will be re-branded in effort to spur investment.

The Exco for Investment, Datuk Teng Chang Kim, said that the investment performance of Selangor from 2000 to 2014 continues to excel with the highest investment recorded at RM117.75 billion from 4,173 factory projects; 19 percent of all investment approved nationwide.

He said that RM60.45 billion was from domestic investment and RM57.30 billion involves foreign investment throughout the span of 14 years, while 328,168 potential employment opportunities have been created.

“After this, SSIC will be given a new image and the effort is still in the pipeline. Upon receiving approval, it will be announced by the Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, in the near future.

“We are aware that the challenges today are bigger to continue to improve investment performance. Therefore, we will start by giving SSIC a new image,” he said.

SSIC Berhad is a subsidiary company of the state government which has been in operation since 1999 and serves to promote Selangor as the best investment destination in Malaysian and the Asian region.

He said this to reporters after attending the dinner with the media in conjunction with the ‘Media Selangor Discovery’ programme organised by the Selangor State Investment Centre (SSIC) at Avani Sepang Goldcoast yesterday.

Also present was the General Manager of the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS), Azlan Md Alifiah; the Chief Executive Officer of SSIC Berhad, Hasan Azhari Idris; and the Vice Executive President of Sepang Goldcoast Sdn Bhd, MC Wong.

Media Selangor Discovery is a special SSIC programme with media representatives to visit the industrial area in Selangor.

Through the one-day programme, the media was taken to visit the latest development in the industrial area in the Selangor Halal Hub and Port Klang Free Zone in Pulau Indah, in addition to the Selangor Science Park 2 and Cyberjaya.
