SHAH ALAM, 18 Dec: The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) emerged as the first local authority to have a Corruption Prevention Strategic Plan.
Its Deputy Corporate Director, Shahrin Ahmad, said that the initiative was taken as a measure to address corruption and the problem of integrity among MBSA employees.
He said that the move is also aimed at increasing understanding and awareness in relation to the crime of corruption, abuse of power and embezzlement that could undermine public interest.
“The implementation of this plan also aims to produce more MBSA citizens with high integrity who uphold the law, regulations and organisational ethics.
“In addition to that, we also want to educate and raise awareness among MBSA employees on the importance of accountability in performing daily tasks and to have a sense of belonging towards the MBSA organisation,” he said after launching the MBSA 2014-2016 Corruption Prevention Strategic Plan which was held at the MBSA auditorium this morning.
The plan is also designed with a smart collaboration between MBSA and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), which was signed in 2011.
“With the implementation of the Corruption Prevention Strategic Plan, MBSA hopes to produce ea workforce with high integrity and who can give their commitment to address the crime of corruption,” he added.
The ceremony was inaugurated by the Deputy Mayor, Mokhtar Hani, and also attended by the Selangor MACC Director, Datuk Simi Abdul Ghani, as well as the MACC Community Education Division Director, Datuk Shamshun Baharin Mohd Jamil.
At the same event, the Corruption Prevention Strategic Plan Book Presentation was also held to prevent the books to each Department Director, Division Heads and Branch Office Manager.
