RM21.2 million for education and convert development

SHAH ALAM, 5 Sept: RM21.2 million has been allocated by the Selangor Islamic Religious Council (MAIS) for education and convert training development this year.

The MAIS Converts Affairs Committee Chairman, Datuk Emran Kadir, said that RM17 million is devoted to education while RM4.2 million if for training programmes from the amount.

“MAIS also improved the converts education incentive for all levels; in higher education, schools or special education institutions.

“It is to enable this group to continue to be successful in obtaining good and organised Islamic education,” he said at the 2nd Qudwatul Hasanah Muallaf Awards Night at the Shah Alam Convention Centre yesterday.

At the same time, Emran said that business assistance such as capital and goods for converts who want to get involved in the field is also available.

He said that MAIS allocated about RM750,000 a year for that purposed and now it is gaining response.

“This assistance id not for only individuals becoming involved in business for the first time, but also for those who want to develop their existing businesses,” he said.
