Anwar Expresses Condolences To Family Members of Safety Officers Killed at Lahad Datu

SHAH ALAM, 1 Mac: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim extended his condolences to the families of two national security personnel who were killed in the Lahad Datu incident today.

The two who died were Inspector Zulkifli Mamat and Sergeant Sabaruddin from the 69 Commando Unit.

Through a press release Anwar said that the Malaysian government under the leadership of Datuk Seri Najib Razak and ministers responsible of handling national security and defence should come forward to explain to the people about this bloody event.

“Why is it so easy for national borders to be breached by a group of armed foreigners and why is the government compromising in resolving this issue?” he asked.

He added that the issue of national security should not be treated lightly and be taken for granted by the government.People should be informed about what is happening.

According to Bernama’s reports today, two Malaysian police commandos were killed in a mortar attack at Kampung Tanduo, which had been turned into a fortress by a group of armed intruders from southern Philippines here.Philippines.

They were patrolling at one of the posts around the village when the mortar bomb exploded.
