“Despite high expenses for welfare programmes, with the state’s strong financial position, it allow it to be implemented up to now.

“Anything to benefit the people of Selangor, we will not mind continuing,” he said at the Senior Citizen’s Scheme (SMUE) Presentation Ceremony at the Taman Eng Ann Hall near here today.

Chang Khim said that welfare programmes, especially SMUE, received overwhelming response from the residents of the Klang district since it was introduced.

He said that existing programmes will not only be maintained, but improved from time to time in line with the needs of the people of Selangor.

“We also added other welfare programmes such as educational scholarships for the children of Selangor to study at the University of Selangor (UNISEL) and funds for daily living.

“It is an effort that has not been implemented in any state,” he said.
