SHAH ALAM, 4 Feb: DAP needs to convince the people and other political leaders in relation to the benefits of holding local authority elections before intending to propose it, said the Selangor PAS Communications Body Secretary, Mohd Khairuddin Othman.
He said that so far, Selangor PAS has no final word on the matter because it has not yet been discussed at any meeting with Pakatan Rakyat (PR).
“This has never been brought up in meetings together because we are only trying to strengthen the government and this matter was only known through media reports.
“DAP must work hard to convince the people and other political leaders on the implementation of the local authority elections,” he told Selangor Kini.
When asked about PAS’ views on the election, Khairuddin said that there is no concrete stance on the matter because they have not yet been given a clear picture on the structure of the implementation.
“In principle, DAP needs to convince PAS that local authority elections will bring about the benefit of advantages compared to disadvantages.
“If this does not happen, we will stand by our stance today,” he said.
Prior to this, DAP urged the Selangor government to organise local authority elections as contained in the manifesto between DAP and the People’s Justice Party (PKR).
