Traders who hand licences to foreigners will be blacklisted

SHAH ALAM, 27 Jan: Any party that hands over business licences to foreigners to conduct business illegally will have their licences revoked or blacklisted.

The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) Deputy Corporate Director, Shahrin Ahmad, said that they will not allow foreigners to obtain business licences at MBSA stalls and markets.

“MBSA will only issue licences to Malaysians to conduct businesses at premises owned by MBSA.

“If any party is found giving it to a third party, including foreign nationals, they will face stern action from us,” he told Selangor Kini.

He was asked to comment on MBSA’s move in monitoring the existence of foreign hawkers who rent business licences from locals.

Shahrin said that MBSA also always conducts periodic monitoring through the Department of Licencing and Enforcement.

“We will absolutely not compromise with foreign hawkers and it is hoped that local residents will also not be involved in this matter,” he said.
