Anwar denies giving orders, only asks clarification from CM

SHAH ALAM, 29 Sept: The PKR de facto leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, denied that he ‘ordered’ the Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, to review the salary hike for people’s representatives, the construction of the Kinrara-Damansara Expressway (KIDEX) and the water restructuring agreement.

Anwar explained that he was only asking for clarification on whether the agreements were in accordance with the law or otherwise.

He also denied accusing the former Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, of being corrupt.

“I am not accusing him of corruption, but there was no transparency,” stressed Anwar.

Regarding the water issue, Anwar expressed concern over the signing of the water agreement, which was done in a hurry. Anwar also questioned who received the contract and profit from the deal.

“What is the reason of fighting to approve the contract?

“Who received the contract and how much is the profit. If it is too much for two to three top people to acquire wealth, does it have an impact and burden the people of Selangor who must pay higher water rates?” he asked.

As for the Kidex issue, Anwar demand for a revision to be carried out because it has invited a lot of objections from the residents.

“So, I want to know which leadership profits. Who from Umno gets it? Which Umno lawyer is involved? Why does the state have to accept the decision?” asked Anwar.

Anwar also questioned the development of the affordable housing project ‘Selangorku Homes’ in Sungai Sering.

“Similarly with the 70 acre land in Sungai Sering to Tan Sri Rashid Manaf. Who set the price?” he asked.

Anwar said that if Abdul Khalid’s administration is considered good despite these questions, then the people of Selangor have a weak understanding of stewardship.

Previously, Selangor Kini reported the acquiring of the state water operation and assets by an entity owned by the people of Selangor, Air Selangor Sdn Bhd.

Selangor Kini also reported that the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) rejected the application to mobilise the construction of the Kidex expressway three times after developers failed to deliver the updated impact report as requested by the state government.

Meanwhile, the Selangorku Homes developer in Sungai Sering, Ecoworld Development Group Berhad, was said to be eligible as they have the skills and met the requirements of the Sungai Sering Selangorku Homes Project Contract Special Committee which consists of State Executive Council members for Housing, the State Financial Officer, the Director of the Selangor Housing and Property Board (LPHS) and experts in construction.
