Decorated boats portraying Selangor an attraction at Magic of the Night

PUTRAJAYA, 16 June: Boats decorated with the team of ‘Selangor Has More’ attracted visitors at the ‘Magic of the Night’ event organised by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture.

The boat displayed its own uniqueness with decorations, including the ceremonial state emblem, the Blue Mosque, i-City, Mah Meri Cultural Village, the Sepang International Circuit and the Village of Fireflies.

The Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, also attended to enliven the ‘Magic of the Night’ event organised by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture.

Located at the Marina Lake, he and other honoured guests, as well as the public, were presented with the 15 decorated boats contesting as they floated in the lake in front of the main stage.

Among the others that took part was Putrajaya Corporation (PJC), the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) and states like Johor, Penang and Selangor.

This is the fourth year the ‘Magic of the Night’ event is being held in conjunction with the Floria Putrajaya and it has been included in the Calendar of Events and Festivals for the Visit Malaysia Year 2014.

The event last night was hosted by Tourism Selangor, and was also attended by the Executive Councillor in charge of Tourism, Consumer Affairs and Environment, Elizabeth Wong, as well as the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, Datuk Dr Ong Hong Peng.

On June 14, the opening ceremony was inaugurated by the Minister of Federal Territories, Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, who also took the opportunity to witness the procession of the decorated boats and fireworks.

The closing ceremony will be held on June 22 and is expected to be officiated by the Minister of Tourism and Culture, Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Aziz, who will present the gifts and souvenirs to the ‘Magic of the Night’ participants.
