Exco: BN Challenged to Submit Information on Massage Parlours to Local Authorities

SHAH ALAM, 20 Mar: Selangor Executive Councillor, Datuk Teng Chang Khim, considers the claims made by Barisan Nasional (BN) that the State Government has issued over 200 new licences for massage parlours as a wild accusation.

Chang Khim said that the Member of Parliament for Air Hitam, Datuk Wee Ka Siong and the BN candidate in the Kajang by-election, Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun, should submit information and proof that is in their possession to enable swift action to be taken by the Local Authorities.

“If they are really concerned and have details, because they said that they have conducted a survey, I ask them to submit it to the local authorities so that action can be taken.

“We have no such information. So, there is no use for BN to keep the information, unless they have something to do with it,” said Chang Khim in a press conference here at the SUK Building.

Chang Khim was also disappointed when Ka Siong, who once held the position of Deputy Minister, was willing to lie that the state government has raised assessment tax by up to 1900 percent.

“In the case alleged by Ka Siong, a piece of land with a quit rent of RM9, has now increased to over a thousand ringgit.

“Actually, in that case, the land was previously vacant. So it was RM9, but now a bungalow is built on it.

“In this case, the appeal and hearing has already been conducted by the Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) and the tax was reduced, but of course not the same rate as before,” added Chang Khim.

He said that the new assessment rate imposed on the landowner is a normal and reasonable practice when he built a bungalow on the one acre of land.

Apart from that, any additional construction made by the property owner can also affect the tax payable.
