MPK collected RM92.6 million in assessment taxes

KLANG, JUN 30: The Klang Municipal Council (MPK) has collected RM92.66 million in assessment taxes as of June 26.

MPK Yang DiPertua Datuk Mohamad Yasid Bidin said that RM79.66 million (95%) was from 1/2016 Assessment Tax and RM15.67 million (41%) was tax arrears.

He also said that RM20.01 million has yet to be collected and MPK will continue with collections and enforcement.

“The arrears increased by RM6.25 million compared to the same period last year.  That is equivalent to 8% increase,” he said.

MPK will charge a Notice Fee of RM20 for each assessment tax account per term and confiscate mobile properties as provided in Section 148 Local Government Act 1976 (Act 171).

“Besides that, we will also take action by confiscating and selling the property under the provision in Section 151 Local Government Act 1976 (Act 171) and conduct door-to-door collection for arrears from businesses,” he said.

Mohamed Yasid informed that MPK will launch an assessment tax payment campaign in July at Giant Klang Sentral Mall and Aeon Big Jalan Kapar from 10.30 am until 10 pm.

In addition, another assessment tax payment campaign for Pandamaran flats will be held from July 2 to July 3, from 10 am until 2 pm.
