MERU, JUL 16:  Realising there are still those who are less fortunate, University of Selangor (UNISEL) under the #ProjekRayaRohingya extended its assistance to the Rohingya, particularly to children.

The program included donations of food, cash and a host of activities, which saw the participation of about 160 Rohingya children studying at a religious school.

UNISEL Student Affairs Dean Amidi Abdul Manan said that it was part of  UNISEL’s Cakna programme, which receives contributions from Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI), and supported by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.

“This programme is an initiative by UNISEL and Selangor Government in defining transformation, by producing holistic students who excel both in academic and humanitarian fields,” said Amidi.

He said this when launching the programme at Madrasah Al-Islamiah Al-Islahiah Maahad Tahfizul Quran.

He said that the victims of the Rohingya crisis, which began during the British colonial era, needed everyone’s support as it was a humanitarian issue.

During the one-day programme, various activities were held, including games, motivation and counseling sessions by UNISEL’s psychology students.

The program ended with communal work to make the madrasah a cleaner and more cheerful place.
