SHAH ALAM, AUG 1: The State Government is actively boosting the state’s education development plan through Tunas Selangor Scheme, targeting pre-school children across the state.

Education, Human Capital Development, Science, Technology and Innovation Exco Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad said the objective is to provide long-term educational benefits to children of all ages.

“The Selangor Government is serious in developing the education sector, particularly in early education for children.

“As the old Malay saying goes; to bend a bamboo, do it while it is still a young subtle shoot. The state government hopes that every child born in this state receives the best education, especially from an early stage,” he said.

He was speaking at the Selangor Kindergarten Aid Scheme (TUNAS) Cheque Presentation Ceremony, Phase 1/2016 at the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Building recently.

A total of RM2,123,170 was distributed to 360 kindergartens in the Klang and Petaling Districts, benefiting 3,943 recipients.

Meanwhile, the total recipients in the whole state were 9,154, from 856 kindergartens, and the total allocation was RM4,88 million.

Nik Nazmi said, TUNAS made an improvement this year by extending the eligibility of the RM50 subsidy to families with income below RM3,000.

This initiative is expected to provide long-term benefits to middle-income families across the state, particularly those in rural areas.

“This is the motivating factor for the State Government to continue providing assistance to the low-income family group as we do not want any child to be left behind,” he said.
