LRT disruption causes road jams

SHAH ALAM, SEP 7: Heavy rain this morning which lasted for several hours caused traffic jams in many areas in Klang Valley, leaving many office workers stranded.

The Malaysian Highway Authorities reported an accident on Elite Highway that slowed traffic from Putrajaya to Seafield.

Meanwhile traffic was also very slow on Jalan Lapangan Terbang Antarabangsa Subang from Citta Mall to the Federal Highway, also due to an accident.

At the same time, there were also reports of electricity disruption on the Kelana Jaya rail route from Masjid Jamek towards Ampark Park.

Rapid KL has asked commuters to find alternative transportation to ease their commute.

“We are providing busses to and from Stesen Sri Rampai and Masjid Jamek for the convenience of our commuters,” the company posted on its Facebook account.

It also mentioned about an alternative train provided from Putra Heights to return to Masjid Jamek. So far, electricity between Setiawangsa and Damai station is back to normal.

“The technical team is still at work to fix the electricity shortage for the whole routing,” it said.

Commuters were asked to look out for busses with registrations WB 480 G and WVN 5644 from Masjid Jamek to Stesen Datuk Keramat.

Rapid KL said that updates on this will be provided from time to time.

A tweet from Malaysia Airlines (MAS) reported several flight delays at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
