SHAH ALAM, 5 Mar: Concerned with the safety of patients, the State Government has been forced to take on the responsibility of the Health Ministry in providing basic facilities at a health clinic (klinik kesihatan) here.
The Padang Jawa Health Clinic that was built for about 50 years is in a weak and frail condition, while basic amenities such as a refrigerator to store medicine can no longer be used.
Apart from that, according to Welfare, Women’s Affairs, Science, Technology, Innovation and Culture Exco, Rodziah Ismail, this health centre needs to be repaired immediately as it is a necessity for the locals to receive treatment and the issue of safety should be emphasised.
She said that the people have the right to enjoy the convenience and comfort while dealing or while receiving treatment at the clinic.
“The clinic is the only clinic in the village, many of the patients are pregnant women and children.
“It is now old, I have received many complaints from the Village Head and last week as well as today, I am seeing it for myself.
“I will write a letter to the Ministry of Health to upgrade this clinic so that its environment is more conducive, even if it is located in a village, this clinic is still in the Shah Alam city, so its time it is upgraded,” she said.
Rodziah added that the State Government is ready to discuss with the Ministry of Health if they wish to build a new and more comfortable clinic.
“We may be able to discuss about providing a new site, for me, issues concerning the people’s convenience, we cannot choose an area to concentrate on.
“In the meantime, I will try to help within my powers. If a new building is to be built, a special allocation will be needed,” she said.
During the visit, Rodziah also contributed a refrigerator and a computer set for the usage of the clinic staff.
Upon examination, it was noticed that the floor and walls of the clinic were very old, the sitting facilities provided on the outside of the clinic were in terrible shape, apart from being uncomfortably used as a waiting area, as the area is exposed to sunlight.
Meanwhile, Village Head, Saian Asmari, 62, said that the people want a more comfortable clinic to be built.
“There are at least 30,000 people in this village. If possible, we want a more comfortable clinic. I would like to thank YB Rodziah for being attentive and for being willing to see to our problem,” he said.
