Selangor launches free bus, BN increases oil prices

SHAH ALAM, 1 JUL: The people of Selangor were awarded a free bus service, Bus Selangorku, when the Federal Goernment raised petrol prices today.

The Selangor Exco of Investment, Industry, Trade and Transport, Datuk Teng Chang Khim, said that RM3.6 million was allocated for the service in Shah Alam City Council (MBSA), the Klang Municipal Council (MPK), and the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ).

“Coincidentally, oil prices rose again today. We also launched a free bus service which is open to all regardless of status, age, and race.

“At least the people have a choice when it comes to facing pressure from rising oil prices,” he said after officiating Bus Selangorku in the compound of the Shah Alam Komuter Station here today.

Also present were State Financial Officer Datuk Noordin Sulaiman; Shah Alam Mayor Datuk Ahmad Zaharin Mohd Saad; MPK President, Datuk Mohammad Yacob and MPSJ President, Datuk Nor Hisham Ahmad Dahlan.

Chang Khim said the service will also be extended to other local authorities to reduce the pressure of traffic jams.

“Especially in the area of Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) and the Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj).

“We also see the need to expand services in rural areas depending on demand,” he said.
