Selangor remains Zakat Fitrah at RM7

SHAH ALAM, 13 June: The Zakat Fitrah rate for Muslims in Selangor will remain at RM7 per person this year to facilitate the people in the state to perform the fourth Islamic pillar.

The Selangor Islamic Religious Council (MAIS) Chairman, Datuk Mohamad Adzib Mohd Isa, said that 26 Selangor Zakat Board (LZS) branches will be open seven days a week throughout the Ramadan period.

“This year, LS expect Zakat collection of RM21.5 million. The public is advised to perform the Zakat to 2,422 head and assistants who have certificates of appointment and valid accreditation cards,” he said in a statement.

Mohamad Adzib said that the public can also fulfil the Zakat Fitrah at selected supermarkets around the Klang Valley and ten higher education institutions in Selangor.

He said that payments can also be made through the Short Messaging System (SMS) in cooperation with Digi.

“It is open to pre-paid and post-paid customers where the Zakat payment is deducted from the credit amount or charged on the bill,” he said.
