CM: Water agreement to be completed in two weeks

SHAH ALAM, 12 June: The master agreement on the restructuring of the water industry in Selangor is expected to be completed in one to two weeks, said the Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali.

He said that the meeting with the Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water, Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili, to finalise the water agreement in the near future is also satisfying.

“I met with the minister yesterday. It was a good meeting with a decision that two parties agreed to finalise it in the near future,” he said.

He said this after attending the Selangor State Mosque and Surau Officers and Committee Conference and the Moreh Assistance Presentation Ceremony at the State Mosque today.

Regarding the decision on Puncak Niaga Holdings Bhd (PNHB), which may be cancelled in the agreement with Selangor Water Management Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor), Mohamed Azmin said that it depends on the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water (KeTTHA) to discuss.

He said that KeTTHA will determine whether the PNHB claims in the sale and purchase of Air Selangor is reasonable or not.

“‘The payment issue was not discussed yesterday. Instead, we discussed about the water services industry that will be finalised and several disputes were resolved.

“Among those finalised is the master agreement that needs to be concluded for the first three months of last year and it takes some time to complete,” he said.
