320 free helmets in conjunction with the Selamat Balik Kampung campaign

SHAH ALAM, 17 July: The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) will continue the Selamat Balik Kampung (Safely Return to Hometown) campaign for the fourth time by giving free helmets to motorcyclist, especially in Shah Alam.

The Deputy Director of the MBSA Corporate and Community Development Department, Shahrin Ahmad, said that the campaign will be held at Paya Jaras and Sungai Buloh Section U20 starting at 11am on July 22.

He said that 300 adult helmets and 20 child helmets donated by the Road Safety Department (RSD) and SIRIM QAS International Sdn Bhd will be given to the public.

“The helmets provided meet road safety specifications approved by SIRIM,” he said in a press statement.

Shahrin said that the campaign is being held to encourage the people who want to return to their hometown during the festive season to prioritise road safety, especially motorcyclists.

“In addition, the programme also educates road users, especially motorcyclists, to ride in a prudent and careful way on the way back to their hometowns.

“Through this campaign, helmets will be distributed to the public by means of exchanging old helmets that do not meet specifications with the new helmets,” he said.

Apart from this programme, the distribution of dates will also be given to motorcyclists who exchange their old helmets for new ones.

The event will be carried out by the Mayor of Shah Alam, Datuk Mohd Jaafar Atan.

In relation to this, the people who want to get free helmets may be present at the date and location mentioned above.
