CM wants Federal Government to cooperate to increase investment

SHAH ALAM, 10 June: The Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, wants the Federal Government to work with the State Government to attract more investors to the country because the opportunity to bring in more investment into the country is bright.

Abdul Khalid said that currently, Malaysia is ranked only second, after Thailand. But because Thailand has political problems, Malaysia is first in place to have huge potential in Asia.

Therefore, he said, the Federal Government should work together with states in economic growth by putting aside different political ideologies.

“This is the best chance for us to grab this opportunity to create a better environment for the state and the country.

“It is well known that Selangor is the largest contributor in gross domestic product. If Selangor does not develop, then the country will not develop.

“So take this opportunity. Put aside political ideology and together, develop the country’s economic progress,” he said in a speech at the Selangor State Investors Appreciation Night 2013 which was organised by the Selangor State Investment Centre (SSIC).

Meanwhile, Abdul Khalid informed that they are planning to develop the ‘Selangor Japanese Industrial Park’ which may be developed in Kuala Langat, Bukit Beruntung and Ijok.

At the event, the Hulu Selangor District Council, the Sepang Municipal Council and the Klang Municipal Council received awards for being chosen as the ‘areas most preferred by investors’ for the Local Authorities category.
