CM: 3 cores of Budget 2015 towards a municipal state

SHAH ALAM, 9 June: The Selangor Government is focusing on three key points in planning the State Budget 2015, which is expected to be tabled in November, said the Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.

He said that among the focuses is to increase state revenue and income, the use of state funds as best possible and to bring in new plans to make Selangor a municipal state.

He said that urban development will include transportation systems, roads and improving agriculture in urban areas for the next five years.

“We will strive to improve agriculture in urban areas, which is currently only contributing about 2% to 7% or 8%.

“This meeting (to table the budget) will not only be done today, but we will go down to each district, at the local authority level, to hold meetings with the community.

“We will obtain necessary information and suggestions from the people of Selangor for the development of this state,” he said during a press conference after lunching the Selangor State Budget 2015 Dialogue at the Shah Alam Convention Centre (SACC) today.

The two-day dialogue featured experts from various fields who presented their research and was monitored by the respective Executive Councillors.

Meanwhile, Abdul Khalid said that the construction of affordable housing in every district in this state is also the focus of the Selangor Government in this budget.

He said that the latest developments on affordable housing will be revealed in the next Selangor State Assembly session for the information of State Assembly members.

“We have no problem in revealing the progress of affordable housing and it will be featured in the upcoming Selangor State Assembly session.

“In fact, I believe that questions regarding the progress of affordable housing will be raised by members of the Assembly,” he added.
