Nine teams participated in the Netball Championships Under 19 which took place at Dewan Teratai, Section 19 in Shah Alam yesterday.
The Championship was won by the Selangor Seniors and the Chairman of the Standing Committee for Women’s Affairs of Selangor, Rodziah Ismail presented the award.
Rodziah said that the Standing Committee for Women’s Affairs will organize a series of netball league championships that will be joined by teams from all over the state.
According to Rodziah, netball will be made into the ‘Selangor Women’s Sport’ and popularized as a sport activity for women in the state.
“Able Women’s Center will be the key mechanisms to implement the Selangor Women’s Action Plan also popularise netball as a sport.
“Sports is one way of leading a healthy lifestyle that can provides many benefits to everyone. If it is taken serious, of course one can become a world-class professional.”
Besides that, she said that the approach in this portfolio takes a holistic approach by emphasizing the aspects of identity-building and the spirit of brotherhood.
Recently, Selangor placed third in the netball event at the 16th Malaysia Games (Sukma).
