“We will also consider other suggestions such as the proposal to hold more sessions with the opposition in the Young Assemblymen Programme slot,” said Hannah in a press conference yesterday.

This programme is the first platform of its kind provided by the State Government to provide the young people an opportunity to experience the actual proceedings at the DNS as members of the State Legislative Assembly (Assemblymen).

Throughout the three-day programme, all 30 participants were given the opportunity to meet with the Chairman of the Select Committee, representatives of the State Government and to mingle with the Opposition Leader.

The programme ended by witnessing three participants selected as the best Young Assemblymen; Muhammad Anas Shafiee, Hanif Mahpa and K.Ganeshwaran.

Meanwhile, the Opposition Leader, Datuk Mohd Shamsuddin Lias, expressed full support to the organisation of the Selangor young Assemblymen Programme which he described as being very good.

Shamsuddin, who is also the Assemblyman for Sungai Burong, said that with such a programme, the young people have the opportunity to practically approach experience and knowledge related to political processes.

Therefore, he said, he and other members of the opposition are willing to cooperate and participate more actively in the next session.

“Thank you and congratulations to the Speaker, the Deputy Speaker and the Selangor State Assembly (DNS) for organising this programme, and I hope that it can continue in the future.

“Hopefully in the future, the organisers will provide even more opportunities for the opposition to be involved to ensure the success of this programme together,” said Shamsuddin.

Also participating in the programme was the Deputy Speaker, Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, Assemblyman for Selat Klang, Shaari Sungib, Gan Pei Nei (Rawang), R.Rajiv (Bukit Gasing) and Shahrum Mohd Sharif (BN-Dengkil).
