SHAH ALAM, JUL 6: The State Government is actively preparing a comprehensive blueprint in its effort to overcome the dengue epidemic in the state.
Health, Welfare, Women and Family Development Exco Dr Daroyah Alwi said she is currently obtaining detailed information to determine the best implementation plan.
“We are implementing a blueprint tabled during the state assembly. We are using this blueprint to combat dengue.
“We are still studying and collecting all the information on dengue from A to Z,” she said to SelangorKini.
Dr Daroyah welcomed ideas and proposals from all parties to jointly address the issue.
At the same time, she said implementation of the ‘Ecosystem’ programme recently proved to be effective with a decline of dengue cases particularly in Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) area.
She also mentioned three local authorities namely MBPJ, Subang Jaya Municiapl Council (MPSJ) and Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) which piloted the programme implementation.
“We focused on hotspot areas. However in MPSJ the results have not been too positive due to many developments currently,” she said.
“The programme implementation was divided according to State Legislative Assembly area. An officer in-charge of the project was placed was in each area.
The State Government has ordered local authorities to mount ‘larviciding’ activities to terminate mosquito life cycles at its larvae stage.
A total of RM10,000 was also allocated to each Selangor assemblyman to implement dengue fighting programmes in their areas.
Last May, statistics on dengue fever cases continued to show a decline from week to week although there were some concerns at the start of the rainy season recently.
