Selangor Kids Volunteerism first to launch in Malaysia

establish a children’s volunteer team.

Known as Selangor Kids Volunteerism, the team has successfully registered 350 participants from all districts.

The Health, Welfare, Women and Family Affairs Exco Dr Daroyah Alwi said that exposure for children in volunteering activities need to be inculcated from early childhood.

“Volunteerism is an interesting activity as it is an opportunity for children to gain knowledge and enrich their personal experiences.”

“The benefits are also long-term both for those who receive the volunteer service and the surrounding community,” she said.

She said the idea of came up as the Community Welfare Department (JKM) had previously focussed on regular volunteers.

The launching of Selangor Kids Volunteerism was officiated by Daroyah and held at Holiday Villa Hotel & Conference Centre.

To attract the interest of more children, the Welfare Committee has also channeled RM2,000 to each district, including areas in Subang Jaya and Shah Alam specially for the execution of the volunteer programmes.

During the occasion, Daroyah presented certificates of registration, vests and name tags to the first children volunteering team of Selangor.
