TAWAS members increase to 241,719


SHAH ALAM, SEP 5: A total of 241,719 children born in Selangor have successfully registered as Tabung Warisan Anak Selangor (TAWAS) members since June 2008.

SelangorKini verified the figures from TAWAS’s official website and found that 241,477 members are still alive while 242 have passed away.

The highest number of registration was in 2013 with 38,227 members being accepted.


Meanwhile, the lowest number of registration was recorded in 2008 with only 21,322 members.

In 2016, more than 11,000 applications were received. However, till today,  only 9,816 were approved.

In another development, a total of 106,228 members have received their statements while 135,249 have yet to do so.

TAWAS members are eligible to receive RM1,500 every year from the age of 18 year and above.

Beginning March 2014, with the introduction of Skim Khairat Kematian TAWAS, members’ next of kin will receive RM1,500 upon the member’s death before the age of 18.
