Seri Temenggung Squatters Agree to Sign Agreement to Move

BATU CAVES, 5 Apr: A total of 29 families from the Kampung Seri Temenggung squatters finally agreed to sign an agreement to shift homes, as offered by the State Government.

They are among the 230 families from the village who were previously offered to move to the Taman Selayang Mulia Low-Cost Flats in 2008.

However, only 201 families agreed to move and accept the offer to purchase the house at RM35,000.

The Executive Councillor in charge of Housing, Building Management and Squatters and Urban Settlement, Iskandar Samad, said that the construction for the Selangorku Ideal Homes by the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) on the site of the village can be undertaken immediately with this settlement.

He said that the State Government is concerned with the people’s problems, especially since the move has been prolonged since 2006, when the residents did not agree with the proposal or the offer from the previous administration.

“This initiative is an effort from all parties and I would like to advise the people to not sell the houses that will be completed soon because its value will continue to rise.

“We managed to come up with a better and more creative solution compared to the previous government,” he said, after signing the agreement today.
