TANJUNG KARANG, 16 May: The Federal Government has been urged to speed up the construction of a new hospital in Kapar and Tanjung Karang due to the increase of patients in these areas.
The Executive Councillor for Health, Dr Daroyah Alwi, said that the construction project is to enable the local community to receive immediate medical attention in case of an emergency.
She said that this is because there are only two hospitals from Sabak Bernam to Kuala Selangor, and this is not enough to accommodate the number of patients.
“The State Government has provided a 50-acre land in Kapar to ensure that the hospital project in the area can be completed soon,” she said.
She added that the existing hospital in Tanjung Karang can only accommodate patients with mild cases, while for patients with critical cases; they have to be taken to the Sungai Buloh Hospital and the Klang Hospital, which is further away.
“We are still waiting for funds from the Ministry of Health, although the ground-breaking process has already been done,” she said when met by Selangor Kini.
During the visit, Daroyah also mingled with 30 patients, ranging from children to pregnant women and also male patients, while presenting contributions from the State Government in the form of food hampers to each patient.
She hopes that all hospitals will give their full commitment and cooperation to enable representatives of the people in each area to reach out to patients by conducting visitations like this.
Also present during the visit was the Director of the Tanjung Karang Hospital, Dr Zamri Saim.
