Anwar: PKR Deputy President candidates agree to sack those who violate discipline

PETALING JAYA, 16 May: All candidates for PKR Deputy President today supported the firm action, including being sacked from the party, to be taken against those who had violated the election disciplinary conduct, took part in fraud and violence throughout the PKR Election 2014.

The PKR de facto leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, said that firm action needs to be taken to uphold the good reputation of PKR in the eyes of the public.

“We agree, be it these candidates or the Political Bureau, to provide strong support to the Central Election Committee (CEC) to sack any member who violated the disciplinary code or engaged in violence.

“I repeat this firm stance, including Deputy President, Mohamed Azmin Ali; the Secretary-General, Datuk Saifuddin Nasution and senior leader, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, are together in this matter because we compete in friendship.

“Their agreement is quite encouraging for the sake of strengthening PKR,” said Anwar during a press conference at the PKR headquarters today.

Also at the press conference were Abdul Khalid, Mohamed Azmin and Saifuddin.

He also said the move to threaten to bring the election issue to the Registrar of Societies gives room for PKR foes to place the party in a difficult position, like experienced by DAP.

The PKR Election 2014 which was recently held saw some unwanted incidents happening, including throwing of chairs, punching, kicking ballot boxes, stealing ballot boxes and so on.

The election this time also saw 27 branches across the country being forced to hold the polling process again.
