315 North Koreans still in Malaysia

SHAH ALAM, MAR 13: 315 North Koreans have been living in Malaysia since 2014, said Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Zahid Hamidi.

He said about 193 citizens of the republic had chose to stay in Malaysia under the Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) programme organised by Tourism Ministry for the last there years.

The rest are students and those who work in this country, reported The Sun.

Zahid said, 2,453 North Koreans have lived in this country since 2014, quoting statistics released by the Immigration Department.

Of these, 801 had received temporary work permits, 11 (students) and 180 (miners) in Sarawak.

“However, record shows that 315 North Koreans still remain in Malaysia and the rest have returned to their homeland,” he said when launching a carnival in Tawau, Sabah, yesterday.

Zahid also assured that they are being specifically monitored.
