Departing to Jakarta, Muhyiddin’s resignation near?

SHAH ALAM, 24 June: The rumours saying that the Deputy Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, will resign from the cabinet is close to becoming true.

This was reinforced when Muhyiddin left to Jakarta with a few followers and close friends in the political world after the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, denied the replacement of his number two man.

On the blog of the former Wangsa Maju Umno Youth Chief, Shahbudin Husin, he claimed that the departure is linked to discussing the latest political developments related to him and his relationship with the Prime Minister, which has become the hot topic of many at this moment.

He said that after the outcome of discussions in Jakarta, it is possible that Muhyiddin will make a surprising decision.

“A source close to Muhyiddin said that he learned that as a result of discussions in Jakarta, it is possible that Muhyiddin will make a surprising decision.

“However, it is also possible that he will be advised to remain and be patient until the next general election,” he said.

Shahbudin said that the cold relationship between Muhyiddin and Najib has been going on for a long time because it has been said that Muhyiddin disagrees on some matters but is unable to act due to the extreme centralisation of power possessed by Najib and Seri Perdana.

“It has been going on for a long time, even before news of Muhyiddin’s resignation become publicised through social media.

“Many blogs have also revealed the suffering experienced by Muhyiddin, as the number two leader, who seems incapable of doing anything.

“Compared to many Umno leaders and members who are disappointed by Najib, Muhyiddin may be the most miserable person,” he said.

On the blog of the Information Minister, Zainuddin Maidin, or Zam, it was also written that Muhyiddin told several of his friends about his intention to resign, with his age being the reason. However, the fact is that Muhyiddin is disappointed on some matters.

“Najib, however, despite denying rumours regarding Muhyiddin, he is still postponing his plans to reshuffle the cabinet although representatives from MCA and Gerakan, who were previously promised positions in the cabinet, are eager to be in the government,” he said.

Shahbudin believes that the reshuffling is aimed at promoting his cousin, Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Tun Hussein, to become the Minister of Finance.

“The move would certainly offend Muhyiddin because it seemingly shows that Najib is preparing Hishammuddin to take over his place, aside from the reason of including MCA and Gerakan representatives.

“Najib’s denial, by saying that it is just a political design, but at the same time postponing the cabinet reshuffling, further proves that he has plans to promote Hishammuddin while slowly eliminating Muhyiddin.

“If the cabinet reshuffling is merely to include representatives from MCA and Gerakan, or to change the portfolio of several Umno ministers that will not affect Muhyiddin’s future, there would be no reason for Najib to postpone it until now,” he said.

However, Shahbudin said that the huge possibility is that it will be postponed because it has become a hot topic among many.
