20,000 Job Vacancies In Selangor, State Government Extends Career Carnival

KUALA SELANGOR, 15 Dec: Approximately more than 20,000 job vacancies in Selangor to be filled immediately in which the majority of these opportunities are in the manufacturing sector.

Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said that the State Government needs 1,000 surveyors to accelerate the land surveying process in the state.

Therefore, the State Government has allocated RM 3 million for the career carnival next year to meet graduates and unemployed individuals with employers.

Chairman of Kumpulan Perangsang Selangor Berhad, Raja Idris Raja Kamarudin said that RM2.7 million has already been spent on the ‘Rangsangan Siswazah Selangor’ Carnival (RKSS) with 629 individuals participating in it.

Raja Idris said that the programme will be extended to single mothers, the retired, and youths next year.

“With that it is hoped that this group would get jobs and also start their own businesses,” he said at the RKSS which was held at the Kuala Selangor Indoor Stadium.

He said that this Carnival will be extended to the whole of Selangor in the near future.

He added that 80 percent of those who participated in the programme have successfully gained employment while 20 percent have become entrepreneurs since the launch of the programme on 30 September 2011.

“We will intensify efforts to achieve a level of 90 percent,” said Abdul Khalid.

Also present at the event was Malay Customs, Youth and Sports Exco, Dr Yunus Hairi, the President of the Kuala Selangor District Council (MDKS), Noraini Roslan and Kuala Selangor District Officer, Mohamad Yasid Bidin.
