Failure to pay assessment tax, owners face arrest and seizure

SHAH ALAM, SEP 8: The Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) will carry on its Arrest and Property Seizure Operation on all owners who have failed to pay assessment tax.

Its Mayor, Dato’ Mohd Azizi Mohd Zain said, arrest warrants have been issued on 11,219 houses and the total arrears amount to RM20.05 million.

He said the operation performed by the Tax, Revenue, Treasury Department Unit focuses on medium and high cost housing.

“The Department has seized properties in Mentari Court Condominium, PJS 8 where owners have arrears of over two years.

“There are 90 units of houses in the condominium that have been penalized with arrears in total of RM151,513.

“As a result of the operation, RM22,695 managed to be collected. While seized properties will be auctioned off if the owners fail to pay,” he said in a statement.

Azizi said, MBPJ provides various payment method to facilitate the public to make payments among which are counter payment at MBPJ headquarters, branch counters, Mr Ez Pay mobile counters, online banking, JOMPay and through the web at [email protected].
